the accessibility features include:
- Pages are validated using W3C XHTML/CSS and code 508 accessibility validator programs to make sure the xhtml/css is in a correct format
- Images have alternate text descriptions. Folks can hear whats on the image.
- Links associated with news, etc that continue with more... have title tags that are visable with cursor hover or audible through speech
- Screen Fonts size may changed via the browser text View / Text Size (and stay that way)
- The C contrast toggle is present on right hand of the pages changes the page contrast colors to white on black. This helps folks using larger screen fonts or magnifiers. The prior page colors may be toggled back by clicking on theC contrast toggle link again.
- The Skip to content at the top of the page positions the page after the headers and top navigation. This helps folks using text to speech screen reader skip maybe redundant and header and navigation tags.
- XHTML/CSS is used for layout (vs. tables) to cut down on extra layout noise and complexity
- Data Tables have summaries to describe contents, captions for a description and table header with scope to describe the columns
- Form Labels are associated with corresponding data input fields, checkboxes and radio buttons via the id and for tags
